Large bushfires are continuing to burn in central Queensland, but no properties are under threat at this stage.

A major bushfire has been burning in the Mount Archer National Park on Rockhampton's northern outskirts for 10 days.

Yesterday it threatened homes, but no properties were lost.

Local fire incident controller Col May says the fires are within containment lines, but they are not under control.

ARSONISTS may be responsible for a series of spot fires that crews are continuing to battle near Rockhampton in central Queensland.

Queensland Fire and Rescue Service assistant acting commissioner Paul Adcock yesterday said many spot fires at Tanby, north of Rockhampton, may have been deliberately lit.

"The fact that fire is all over the place and has been all over the place in the last week has made fire control investigators suspicious," he said.
